Life brings challenges to everyone.

Some difficulties include depression, anxiety, stress, life transitions, anger, trauma, relationship challenges, or faith-based issues. Other difficulties might be related to parenting, conflict resolution, decision fatigue, dealing with aging parents, or grief. Whatever you are facing, counseling can make a tremendous difference in your ability to cope with life’s demands.

Individual Therapy

Studies have shown that the biggest influence on therapy outcomes is the relationship that is formed between counselor and client. You deserve to have a counselor who receives you with unconditional acceptance and communicates with easy-going rapport. I would love to be that person for you.

In a traditional therapy session, we will go at your pace, discuss topics that are important to you, and collaborate to create your goals for counseling. Whether you are looking for long-term, ongoing support or a solution-focused/problem-solving plan, you will help set the agenda.

Couples Therapy

Whether you are looking for pre-marital counseling, trying to overcome difficulties in a seasoned relationship, or just hoping for some marriage enrichment, you may find that couples therapy is a great investment into what is likely the most important relationship in your life. Relational dissatisfaction can be caused by many things, including stress, unresolved conflict, lack of communication, mistrust or dishonesty, insecurity, an absence of affection or intimacy, difficulties with emotional connection, or disagreements about finances to name a few!

While relationships can be challenging, they can also be the most rewarding aspect of our lives. I would love to meet with you to help you find ways of moving forward with greater connection and more intentional commitment to excellence in your relationship.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly effective and evidence-based psychotherapy approach designed to help individuals overcome the impact of distressing or traumatic experiences. Developed by Francine Shapiro in the late 1980s, EMDR has become widely recognized as a powerful therapeutic method for addressing conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and trauma-related disorders.

The core principle of EMDR involves the use of bilateral stimulation, which can take the form of side-to-side eye movements, hand taps, or auditory tones. During an EMDR session, clients are guided to recall distressing memories while simultaneously experiencing these bilateral stimuli. This process facilitates the brain's natural ability to process and integrate information, leading to a reduction in the emotional intensity associated with the distressing memories.

The EMDR therapy process consists of eight phases, starting with history-taking and treatment planning. Each phase is carefully structured to guide clients through the therapeutic journey, with the ultimate goal of promoting healing and recovery.

EMDR is particularly beneficial for individuals who have experienced trauma but who may struggle with traditional talk therapies. It offers a unique and effective alternative by directly addressing the emotional and psychological impact of traumatic memories. EMDR has demonstrated success in not only alleviating symptoms of PTSD but also in fostering a more adaptive and positive outlook on life.

I utilize EMDR as part of a comprehensive and client-centered approach to mental health treatment. By integrating this evidence-based therapy into my services, I strive to provide individuals with the tools and support they need to overcome the lingering effects of trauma and achieve lasting well-being. If you or someone you know is seeking effective trauma therapy, consider the benefits of EMDR as part of a personalized treatment plan.

Clients can engage in counseling sessions from the comfort of their homes, reducing the need for travel. This convenience is particularly beneficial for individuals with mobility issues, transportation challenges, or those who prefer the privacy and comfort of their own space.

Flexible Scheduling

Telehealth enables more flexible scheduling options for both clients and counselors. This flexibility can accommodate varying time zones, work hours, or other commitments, making it easier for individuals to prioritize their mental well-being.

REDUCED STIGMA

Some individuals may be hesitant to seek in-person mental health services due to perceived stigma. Telehealth provides a more discreet and confidential platform, encouraging those who might otherwise avoid seeking help to access counseling services.

CONTINUITY OF CARE

Telehealth allows for consistent and uninterrupted care, even during challenging circumstances such as natural disasters, pandemics, or other emergencies. This ensures that clients can maintain their mental health support without disruptions.

Technological Integration

The use of technology in telehealth can enhance the counseling experience. Tools such as secure messaging, virtual assessments, and online resources contribute to a more comprehensive and interactive therapeutic process.

COST-EFFICIENCY

Telehealth may reduce overall costs associated with mental health care, including travel expenses and facility fees. This cost-effectiveness can make mental health services more affordable and accessible to a broader range of individuals.

IMPROVED ENGAGEMENT

Some clients may feel more comfortable expressing themselves in a virtual environment, leading to increased engagement in the therapeutic process. This comfort can foster better communication and a stronger therapeutic alliance between clients and counselors.

Adaptability to Various Modalities

Telehealth is adaptable to various therapeutic modalities, including individual counseling, group therapy, and even specialized interventions. This versatility ensures that a wide range of mental health needs can be addressed through remote services.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take insurance?

As an LPC-Associate in SC in private practice, I am not yet paneled with any insurance companies. This may change in the future but currently all services are self-pay. Benefits of a self-pay practice include the fact that your insurance company will not have access to your therapy records, no diagnosis is required for payment, any diagnosis provided will not become a part of your permanent medical record, and there is flexibility in determining the length and number of sessions which you and I can determine together during therapy based upon your needs.

What are your rates?

Individual traditional therapy or EMDR sessions are $100 per hour (50-55 minute sessions). Couple’s sessions are $120 per hour (50-55 minute sessions). Payment is due at the time of the session.

What if the therapy relationship isn’t working for me?

Since the relationship between counselor and client is vital to successful therapy, you will want to find someone who feels just right for you. We recognize that some connections are more organic than others and will be happy to help you with referrals if needed.
